Wednesday, December 2, 2015

MIAMI AND SAN JOSE, Dec. 2, 2015 – Brightstar Corp., the world’s largest specialized wireless distributor and a leader in innovation and diversified services for the wireless industry, and Vocera Communications, the leading healthcare communications company, today announced a collaboration to deliver iOS bundled solutions for secure voice, text messaging and access to critical data to the healthcare market. This engagement will provide Vocera customers with a unique set of solutions featuring iOS devices paired with best-in-class accessories to help meet the demands of the healthcare environment.  Hospitals and health systems will also be better enabled to consolidate purchases to reduce operational costs.

Globally, healthcare professionals continue to adopt mobile solutions such as the Vocera Communication Platform to securely and instantly connect the right people with the right information, on the right device, to improve overall productivity and enhance patient care.  According to a 2015 HiMSS analytics report, 44 percent of hospitals plan to deploy smartphones for wireless communications in the next two years.

“By combining Vocera’s enterprise-grade communication platform with Brightstar’s global device sourcing capability and enterprise expertise, we can streamline and accelerate the adoption of mobile technology in the healthcare industry,” said Andy Zeinfeld, Brightstar’s President of Global Channel Development & Sales and Accessories. “Hospitals and other large healthcare organizations will benefit from a single source for devices and accessories that also offer the programming, kitting, fulfillment, deployment, training and support needed for care providers to hit the ground running.”

“This allows us to deliver on our promise to provide customers with a broad choice of powerful mobile device solutions for secure, clinical communication on the Vocera platform that are tailored to their specific needs,” said Rob Born, vice president of corporate development at Vocera. “We are excited to work with Brightstar, a world-class mobility leader with a broad portfolio of valuable offerings, to achieve this goal.”

In addition to the healthcare industry, Brightstar provides enterprise solutions and device lifecycle management for a wide range of domestic and multinational customers requiring anything from hundreds of devices to tens of thousands of devices per year.
