Sixteen years ago when we introduced the Vocera Badge, nurses told us, “You’re going to change the way nursing is practiced around the world.”
Vocera technology was revolutionary because it enabled nurses (and, in many cases, doctors) to communicate instantly and easily, without interrupting hands-on patient care.
But clinical workflows have changed. In addition to needing to communicate and collaborate while in motion, clinicians also need to be able to easily receive, access, and view information from the EHR, patient monitors, and a host of other systems.
We created the Vocera Platform to enable communication to be integrated with the devices and systems used in hospitals, and to allow information to be synchronized from many sources in a way that is unified around the patient. And now we have purpose-built the ultimate device for realizing the vision of the platform: the Vocera Smartbadge.
The Smartbadge is designed to leverage the full software capability of the Vocera Platform in a lightweight wearable. Make voice calls hands-free, or hold the Smartbadge like a handset. Review and send secure text messages using the touchscreen keyboard. Receive alert and alarm notifications with patient information.
We intend to use this new hardware platform for delivering many innovative capabilities that will ease the burden clinicians face today by making communication and collaboration as easy as speaking.
