Nurses Week 2019 has 4 million reasons to celebrate, and Vocera nurses account for nearly 50 of them! Visit our Nurses Week web page to see our messages to fellow nurses everywhere.
In this national week to celebrate and elevate the nursing profession, the American Nursing Association calls out 4 million reasons to celebrate – and the 4 million reasons are the 4 million nurses in the U.S.
It’s important not just to celebrate nurses, but to ask ourselves, especially as nurse leaders: Are we doing enough to help nurses succeed and thrive?
Let’s work together to elevate and embrace the voice of nurses everywhere. When I founded the American Nurse Project, the “forever” goal was to give nurses a place to tell their stories and know they had been heard. So, this year as National Nurses Week counts “4 million reasons to celebrate,” I count 4 million voices to hear, listen to, and embrace. Find a way to tell your nurses’ stories every day, every year.
Each year at Nurses Week, I publish a CNO Perspective report focused on a topic that’s emerged as top of mind for nurse leaders. The topic this year is cognitive load and the consequences of cognitive overload.
If you’re interested in addressing nurse cognitive overload in your hospital, read my 2019 CNO Perspective report, Cognitive Overload, Medical Errors, and a 5-Point Communication Strategy to Help Clinicians Stay Focused.
