RJ Salus sets the strategy and directs operations for the Experience Innovation Network. He works closely with the network’s members to make connections that accelerate innovation in the human experience at their organizations.
RJ is an ardent patient advocate. Having spent most of his career in healthcare delivery, he knows firsthand the importance of fostering the well-being of staff, physicians, and volunteers. He is motivated to work with teams to connect with the deeper purpose, stories, and relational aspects of healthcare.
Before joining the Experience Innovation Network, RJ served as the director of patient experience at Scripps Health and then at El Camino Hospital.
RJ holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and master degrees in public health and social work from San Diego State University. He was raised in Washington, DC and has lived in France, Spain, and Israel. He enjoys hiking, surfing, cycling, and snowboarding, and spends most of his free time with his wife, two daughters, and their furry son Saffron (a yellow lab).
