The evolution of technology has changed how we communicate. In our personal lives we message rather than call sometimes. Information is pushed to us. We push information to others.

The way we communicate in our personal lives naturally translates to our work lives. And while technology has evolved, one thing has never changed since the days of Florence Nightingale: the healing power of touch and the nurse’s hands.

    Our hands hold and comfort.

"While we have sophisticated technology all around us, nothing can replace the hands of a nurse, and that's why nurses have to be hands-free."

    - Rhonda Collins, CNO

Our hands put a cool hand on a fevered brow.

We hold the hand of a family member who has said a final goodbye to a loved one.

We hold and comfort a frightened child.

We use our hands to perform chest compressions on a dying patient.

We use our hands to start an IV on a patient with serious illness or traumatic injury.

Nurses have to be hands free.

    Because their hands change lives.

Technology has evolved. But some things just cannot be replaced, and that’s why we’ve created the next level of technology that enables the healing power of the nurse’s hands: the Vocera Smartbadge.

Like the Vocera Badge, the Vocera Smartbadge offers a multitude of workflow advantages. But the most important reason hospitals need it is because nurses need to be hands free.
