Arun Mirchandani joined Vocera in August of 2001 and serves as our Senior Vice President of Research & Development, overseeing product management, product R&D, quality/test engineering, program management and engineering services. Prior to Vocera, Mr. Mirchandani was at Polycom Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM) from 1993 to 2000, where he was Director of Software Engineering, heading up R&D for the Voice Communications division and one of the architects for the SoundStation™ family of audio conferencing products. Prior to Polycom, Mr. Mirchandani was at Teknekron Communications Systems (Nasdaq: TCSI), a technology incubator, from 1987 to1993, where he contributed to several industry “firsts” in the field of digital communication systems including an IS-54 Baseband modem design, a V.32 software programmable modem, and an ISDN U-Interface chip prototype. Mr. Mirchandani is a co-inventor of a unique acoustic isolation method for reducing echo-return loss in the design of the Vocera communicator badge for which he has received a U.S. patent. He has also authored IEEE Transaction for Acoustic Speech and Signal Processing letters. He has an MBA from Haas Business School, UC Berkeley, an MS from Arizona State University, and a B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi.
