The Vocera Communications System

The Vocera Communications System is a breakthrough wireless platform that provides hands-free, voice communication throughout an 802.11b/g networked building or campus. Vocera is designed to increase business productivity, teamwork, and customer service levels. The system enables fluid, instant voice conversations among team members, across groups, and throughout an organization of mobile professionals.
The Vocera Communications System consists of two key components: the Vocera System Software that controls and manages call activity, and Vocera Communications devices, including the Vocera Communications Badge - B2000 and the new T1000 Vocera Phone. Both hardware products are lightweight, voice-controlled communication devices that allow users to converse over a wireless LAN (802.11b/g). Together, the Vocera System Software and the Vocera communicators, allow users to instantly speak with others throughout a building or campus environment. Optional Vocera Telephony Solution Software enables users to make and receive telephone calls directly from their Badge through the PBX.
Vocera System Software runs on a standard Windows server and houses the centralized system intelligence: the call manager, user manager, and connection manager programs as well as the Nuance speech recognition software and various databases.
The Vocera Communications Badge - B2000 is a wearable device that weighs less than two ounces and can easily be clipped to a shirt pocket or worn on a lanyard. It enables instant two-way voice conversation without the need to remember a phone number or manipulate a handset.
The Vocera Communications Badge is controlled using natural spoken commands. To initiate a conversation with Jim and Mary, for example, the user would simply say, "Conference Jim Anderson and Mary Garman." In addition, when a live conversation is not necessary, text messages and alerts can be sent to the high-contrast OLED display on the back of the Vocera Communications Badge - B2000.
The exterior surfaces of the Vocera Communications Badge -2000 incorporate a silver-ion technology from BioCote® which inhibits the growth of bacteria, fungus, and algae.
T1000 Vocera Phone
To extend the functionality and flexibility of the Vocera Communications System to a broader range of users, Vocera now offers the T1000 Vocera Phone, available in Q4 2008.
This new 802.11b/g wireless phone is designed to provide the flexibility and form factor some workers desire with the intelligent calling and workflow capabilities only offered by the Vocera Communications System.
The new T1000 Vocera Phone will give mobile workers the instant communication benefits of the Vocera platform on a familiar phone form factor. The device will deliver Vocera's intelligent, one-button communication features and will be compatible with existing Vocera deployments.
