Vocera Application for iPhone

Vocera continues to offer customers the flexibility to choose the right communication device for their environment and workflow. In addition to the Vocera communications badge and Vocera smartphone, customers can now extend the Vocera system functionality to iPhone users. This new application allows iPhone users to access the unique functionality of the Vocera system from anywhere they have cell phone coverage, including outside the hospital. This will allow existing customers to extend the Vocera workflow solution to a broader user base including physicians, clinical managers, and IT staff members.

iPhone users can instantly dial and automatically log into their organization's Vocera system and issue voice commands to reach clinical staff members, broadcast to groups, and retrieve voicemail.

Once connected to their Vocera system, users of the Vocera application for iPhone can access an array of Vocera key commands:

  • Call an individual, role or group:
    "Call John Smith"
    "Call John in Cardiology"
    "Call the E.D. Charge Nurse"
    "Call Radiology"
  • Broadcast to a group:
    "Broadcast to Rapid Response Team"
  • Record and Retrieve Messages:
    "Record a message for John Smith"
    "Record a message for Med Team 4"
    "Play all messages"
    "Play messages from John Smith"

  • Extends the efficient, intelligent calling capabilities of the Vocera system to iPhone users, over a cellular network

    Requirements
    The Vocera application for iPhone is now available on the Apps StoreSM on www.apple.com.

    Before downloading the application from the App Store, please ensure your organization has:
  • Installed and deployed a Vocera communications system. Customers should run Vocera Software 4.1 SP5 or higher.
  • Installed the Vocera SIP telephony gateway
  • Created a user profile for the user in the Vocera database
  • Enabled Vocera access anywhere for iPhone user
