Wayport teams with Vocera Communications to Distribute Wireless Voice Communications System over Wi-Fi Networks
Wayport and Vocera Communications to bring wireless VoIP solutions to hospitality and retail
LOS ANGELES,Calif. (June 22, 2005) — Wayport, Inc., one of the world’s largest providers of wireless and wired high-speed Internet access at more than 9,000 hot spot locations, and Vocera Communications, Inc., a wireless communication company providing instant voice communication for mobile personnel, announced today that they have entered into a reseller agreement to distribute and support the Vocera Communications System on Wayport’s Wi-Fi networks at hotels and other locations.
The Vocera solution enables in-building mobile workers to instantly communicate with one another through a combination of the Vocera Communications Software and the wearable Vocera Communications Badge which operates on Wi-Fi networks such as Wayport’s. Using basic voice commands, the System instantly connects staff to the resources they need, so they can get information, make decisions, and act quickly.
“Wayport continues to expand support for mission critical applications and technology on our network that greatly benefit our venue partners and their customers by increasing productivity and at the same time reducing costs of both voice and data communications,” said Dave Vucina, CEO of Wayport. “Vocera’s voice communication system is a great fit to run on Wayport’s distributed enterprise network and there is strong interest in a solution like this from many of our venue partners.”
Wayport will promote and support the Vocera solution in both existing and prospective Wayport hotel properties and other select venues. The combined solution will provide hotels with the ability to be always connected to key staff members including the front desk, concierge, facilities, housekeeping, health club, dining and other hotel groups cost-effectively.
“Hospitality organizations are looking for ways to improve communication in an effort to enrich guest experiences,” said Brent Lang, vice president of marketing, of Vocera Communications. “By teaming with Wayport, we are in a position to deliver to hotel and retail customers Vocera’s streamlined communication solution that leverages Wayport’s Wi-Fi infrastructure to increase staff productivity and ultimately improve guest satisfaction.”
Wayport will be showing the Vocera System and other solutions at HITEC, June 21-23, 2005 in booth #1127.
