FCC Chairman Michael Powell Speaks about Vocera During National Press Club Luncheon

FCC Chairman Michael Powell mentioned the Vocera Communications System as part of his speech to the National Press Club about The Age of Personal Communications. Chairman Powell used Vocera as an example of Voice over IP technology enabling a new breed of instant communication. Referring to Voice over IP, Chairman Powell states, "If you see voice more as an application, then your field of view opens appropriately wide to see its implications and potential to enhance our lives."

Vocera Communications technology was demonstrated as part of a healthcare technology segment on ABC News World News Sunday. Filmed at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., the story featured new technologies which improve communication and processes in hospitals. Vocera was highlighted along with robotic surgery equipment, picture archival and communication systems, and a wireless, wearable monocle computer display.
