Vocera Communications Wins Silver Abby Award For Improvements in the Healthcare Industry
At the Adaptive Business Leaders (ABL) Organization-sponsored Fourth Annual Innovations in Healthcare (SM) conference June 5, 2002, Vocera Communications was awarded the Silver Abby for its new system that will improve communications in healthcare. The award recognizes companies developing and advancing medical products, systems, processes, and services that improve patient care.
The Abby Award entries are judged on how they demonstrate a clear understanding of the needs of the healthcare community, show how the technology will provide a quality return on investment (ROI), and improve medical care.
Targeting healthcare institutions, Vocera is developing a wireless platform that provides hands-free, voice-activated communications throughout any 802.11b-networked building. In hospitals, this will allow nurses, physicians, and engineering staff to contact each other instantly, quicker than traditional paging systems, pocket pagers, or running around to find someone.
The ABL is an organization made up of CEOs, company presidents, and leaders in the fields of healthcare and technology.
