Vocera Communications Ships 100,000th Badge

Wireless Communications Company Reaches Milestone in Customer Adoption

Cupertino, Calif. (May 30, 2007) — Vocera Communications, Inc. developers of the Vocera Communications System, the only wearable, hands-free, instant communication system available on the market, today announced the shipment of their 100,000th Vocera Badge. Vocera’s 100,000th Badge was ordered as part of the expansion of the Vocera installation at Sutter Health Network’s Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento, Calif., and was presented to Timothy Blakley of Sutter Health by Louis Santos of Siemens Medical Solutions, the Vocera reseller partner responsible for selling the Vocera System to Sutter. Vocera Communications executive vice president Brent Lang hosted the special ceremony on May 23, 2007 at Vocera’s corporate headquarters in Cupertino, Calif.

Sutter Health is a family of not-for-profit hospitals and physician organizations serving the pediatric, obstetrical, cardiology, and cancer care needs of more than 100 communities in Northern California and Hawaii. Currently, the Vocera Communications System is used in three of Sutter Health’s hospitals and medical centers, with two more installations planned for 2008. Patient response times at these Sutter Health hospitals have significantly improved since Vocera was first installed, and by expanding their existing installations, physicians and staff members in the Sutter Health Network will continue providing the best service possible for their patients. “As an application, Vocera has revolutionized how we communicate. As a company, Vocera has demonstrated its commitment to customer service through top notch support, attentiveness, and product development,” said Timothy Blakley, Project Manager, Sutter Health Sacramento Sierra Region. “We are proud to have been a part of this magnificent milestone celebration; reaching 100,000 badges delivered. The whole Vocera team deserves huge kudos.”

The Vocera Communications System integrates the cutting-edge technologies of Wi-Fi, voice over IP (VoIP), and speech recognition into an innovative system designed to provide expedient communication for mobile workers in mission critical environments. Vocera is comprised of the Vocera System Software and the Vocera Badge, which is a hands-free, lightweight, and wearable Badge that enables the wearer to communicate with colleagues over a wireless LAN within an 802.11b networked facility. Using simple voice commands, mobile workers are able to access the resources and people needed to complete tasks more rapidly than through other means of communication. The company was recently awarded the Wireless Broadband Innovation Award for Best VoIP Product or Service.

Since the company first began shipping Badges in 2002, Vocera Communications has grown their clientele to nearly 400 customers, including leading organizations in the healthcare, retail, hospitality, government, manufacturing, and corporate services industries. Vocera also has continued to make strides in the wireless communication industry, including establishing partnerships with companies such as Sprint, Nuance, and Motorola to enhance the functionality of the System and make additional platform options available for customers.
