Vocera Communications, Inc. is funded by a mix of venture capital firms and corporate investors. Our investors include Avalon Ventures, Cisco Systems, Inc., Granite Global Ventures, IDEO, Intel Communications Fund, Motorola, Inc., RRE Ventures, Thomas Weisel Venture Partners, Vanguard Ventures and Venrock Associates.

Avalon Ventures — www.avalon-ventures.com — is a San Diego-based venture capital fund focusing on seed and early-stage companies in the wireless technology and life science industries primarily in San Diego and California. Their current Fund, Avalon Ventures VII, L.P. is $75 million. The collective market capitalization of the Avalon Ventures portfolio companies (most founded by Avalon partners) currently exceeds $5 billion. Co-investors in Avalon deals include such well-known firms as Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (twelve deals) and Versant Ventures, formerly IVP (eleven deals).

Cisco Systems, Inc. — www.cisco.com — is a worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. Cisco hardware, software, and service offerings are used to create Internet solutions that allow individuals, companies, and countries to increase productivity, improve customer satisfaction, and strengthen competitive advantage.

Granite Global Ventures — www.ggvc.com — specializes in expansion-stage venture capital in the United States and Asia. In addition to its investment activities within the U.S., GGV was one of the first VC firms to actively introduce U.S. companies to new markets in Asia and among the first to fund start-ups in China. GGV works closely with entrepreneurs in the information technology and healthcare sectors, providing experience, global perspective, and extensive networks of relationships that accelerate success. Hany Nada, co-founder of Granite Global Ventures, is on the board of Vocera Communications.

IDEO — www.IDEO.com — creates products, services, environments, and digital experiences for companies pioneering new ways to provide value for their customers. Drawing on 20 years of experience in the field of innovative design, IDEO defines and develops new futures for industry leaders and start-ups alike. Having created thousands of products for hundreds of clients, IDEO brings unmatched experience to the process of strategic innovation, from conception through production.

Intel Communications Fund — http://www.intel.com/capital/ — the $500 million Intel Communications Fund, managed by Intel Capital, was established in September, 1999 and invests in technology companies that develop innovative networking and communications solutions. The fund supports development of components, applications, and solutions supporting the rapid deployment of 802.11 based wireless networking. The Intel Communications Fund has made more than 200 investments in 17 countries on five continents.

Motorola, Inc. — www.motorola.com — Motorola is known around the world for innovation and leadership in wireless and broadband communications. Motorola designs and delivers "must have" products, "must do" experiences and powerful networks - along with a full complement of support services. A Fortune 100 company with global presence and impact, Motorola had sales of US $42.9 billion in 2006.  Motorola, Inc., through Motorola Ventures, its strategic venture capital arm, has made an equity investment in Vocera Communications.

RRE Ventures — www.rre.com — since its founding in 1994, RRE Ventures has been dedicated to helping talented management teams build industry-leading companies. RRE Ventures manages $600 million in assets dedicated to investing in private information technology companies with a focus on rapidly growing markets in the software, communications, and financial services industries. Backing entrepreneurs and management teams that possess the industry knowledge, vision, and discipline to create market-dominating companies, RRE Ventures helps their entrepreneurs drive growth. Jim Robinson, a founder and general partner at RRE Ventures, is on the Vocera Communications Board.

Thomas Weisel Venture Partners (TWVP) — www.twvp.com — is an early-stage venture capital firm that invests in emerging information technology companies. As a partner with a long-term perspective, TWVP plays an active role in helping entrepreneurs turn ideas into sustainable businesses. TWVP portfolio companies benefit from the knowledge, energy and resources of the TWVP team and from TWVP's commitment to working with management to build industry-leading companies. TWVP was founded in 2000 in partnership with Thomas Weisel Partners, a San Francisco-based merchant bank, and is located in Palo Alto, Calif.

Vanguard has offices in Palo Alto, Calif., and Houston, Texas. The partners-Dan Eilers, Tom McConnell, Don Wood, Jack Gill, and Bob Ulrich-have extensive and successful backgrounds as technologists, operating managers, entrepreneur-founders, and venture capital investors. Over the past 24 years, Vanguard has invested in over 120 companies and more than 30 have had notable success. Don Wood, general partner at Vanguard Ventures, is on the Board of Vocera Communications.

Venrock Associates — www.venrock.com —was founded as the venture capital arm of the Rockefeller Family and continues a six-decade tradition of funding entrepreneurs and establishing successful, enduring companies. Venrock's activities focus on early-stage companies in information technology and healthcare. Today, having invested more than $1.3 billion in 360 companies, Venrock is one of the most established venture firms in the United States. Brian Ascher, a senior principal of Venrock's Menlo Park, Calif. office, is on the board of Vocera Communications.
